The Northern region of France (also known as Pas-de-Calais) is right on the Belgium border. It is a picturesque land of green meadows, rolling hills, forests and sandy beaches. It has over 150 miles of glorious coastline boasting some of the nicest beaches in the country.

The Picardy area of the north was actually the first region of France and has a long and rich history. It has many influences including English, Dutch, Flemish and Spanish, which have all left their marks over the years and can be seen in the architecture, town names and folklore. The landscape here is mainly shady woods, green pastures and blue ponds and is excellent for countryside walks. It is a very peaceful, laid back region where its people lead simple, happy lives uncomplicated by the modern world.

is the place to be. It was the birthplace of Gothic
architecture. Nowhere can this be seen more so than in Amiens
with its magnificent gothic cathedral. This area is also well
known for its many WW1 battle sights that attract people from
all over the world. There are many interesting places to visit
here including the town of Chantilly, famous for its lace, and
Senlis which will give you a taste of an unspoilt, traditional
French village where everything is timeless.
Eurocamp

just south of Calais in the town of Guiness, ideally situated
for exploring the nearby sights, and the other is
St.Valery-Sur-Somme on the coast, offering excellent beaches
on the edge of the Picardy countryside.
Normandy is also a popular region for camping in Northern France. Normandy has a varied landscape of golden sandy beaches and cool woody valleys and pine forests. The countryside is peaceful and tranquil, offering retreat from the main tourist spots. Eurocamp currently has 3 campsites in the area for you to choose from. Two are situated near the pretty seaside town of Houlgate and are ideally situated for visiting the nearby attractions. Caen is only a short drive away and has impressive architecture dating back to the 11th century. Unfortunately a lot of the town was bombed in WW11 but some buildings survived. Here you will also find the Museum of Normandy and the Museum of Peace, which both give an insight into the culture and heritage of this region. A little further up the coast is Bayeax, famous for the 11th century masterpiece the Bayeax tapestry. The most popular attraction here though is Mont-St-Michel. It is world famous and is visited by millions each year. From a distance it looks like a fairytale castle in the sea, magical and mysterious. It is one of the best examples of ancient architecture in the world. If you walk around its ramparts you will get some of the most breathtaking panoramic views that make it clear why it is such a popular place to be. Eurocamp has a campsite situated only a short drive away in the seaside town of St.Pair-Sur-Mer. This campsite is also close to Avranches where you can get spectacular views of Mont-St-Michel from its beautiful Botanical Garden.
