The Northern region of France (also known as Pas-de-Calais) is right on the Belgium border. It is a picturesque land of green meadows, rolling hills, forests and sandy beaches. It has over 150 miles of glorious coastline boasting some of the nicest beaches in the country.

The Picardy area of the north was actually the first region of France and has a long and rich history. Caen is only a short drive away and has impressive architecture dating back to the 11th century. Unfortunately a lot of the town was bombed in WW11 but some buildings survived. Here you will also find the Museum of Normandy and the Museum of Peace, which both give an insight into the culture and heritage of this region. A little further up the coast is Bayeax, famous for the 11th century masterpiece the Bayeax tapestry. The most popular attraction here though is Mont-St-Michel. It is world famous and is visited by millions each year. From a distance it looks like a fairytale castle in the sea, magical and mysterious. It is one of the best examples of ancient architecture in the world. If you walk around its ramparts you will get some of the most breathtaking panoramic views that make it clear why it is such a popular place to be. Eurocamp has a campsite situated only a short drive away in the seaside town of St.Pair-Sur-Mer. This campsite is also close to Avranches where you can get spectacular views of Mont-St-Michel from its beautiful Botanical Garden.
