Campsite Description

Set in idyllic wooded grounds, around a beautifully restored watermill, this truly relaxing campsite is the setting for an unforgettable holiday. At the heart of a rich green valley, Le Moulin de Paulhiac is ideal for couples and families who enjoy the simplicity of the great outdoors. In a region famed for its gastronomy, the popular on site restaurant serves local dishes, and has a lovely covered outdoor terrace, which overlooks the swimming pool complex. As well as the outdoor, covered and children's pools on site, there are also waterslides and a spray park, and the River Céou meanders along the bottom of the campsite. Here, it is possible to fish for trout, throughout the season. The camping area is verdant, and the spacious, flat and grassy pitches are lightly shaded under the canopy of walnut, oak and apple trees. In high season, canoe trips are organised on the River Dordogne in the daytime, and entertainment including theme nights, talent competitions and cabaret shows are held in the bar in the evenings. The Périgord Noir Aquarium at Le Bugue is a popular day out, as is the medieval château at Domme and the pretty village of Daglan which is something of a tourist centre for this quieter part of the Dordogne.

Graham Family,

The pitch we were allocated was very large and grassy and partly shaded so no complaints there, unfortunately it was the very 1st pitch as you enter the site and nearest to all the facilities which meant we got all the noise disturbances both last thing at night from everyone enjoying the entertainment and first thing in the morning with the bin lorries and deliveries arriving very early each day. There were other pitches further into the site we would have prefered and in hindsite should have asked if that was possible on arrival. Toilets were kept clean however, we didn't like the communal toilets and urinals for men with no doors. Thie meant we had to walk past, and see, men urinating regularly. This was, for me and our 4 daughters very unpleasant/awkward. Also, this site does not have hot showers, our family of 6 struggled to get a hot shower between us for the 10 days despite all going at different times. Our English neighbours complained and got a very poor response. The site has great pools available. Their is a Large pool for older kids, middle size pool for early learners and paddling style pool for toddlers, plus the slides! Really good well thought out pool facilities. The Badminton pitches on site would get taken quite quickly but their was plenty of space around to play without a net. Other good facilities available (tennis and table tennis) but we didn't use them so we can't really comment. The Restaurant would get very busy and when we first arrived and needed a meal they were fully booked including the take away! However, staff were friendly and accomodating, they did agree to do us takeaway pizzas so all was fine. We booked a table for another evening and were able to eat earlier than arranged by our request and had a very nice meal and evening, although with a family of 6 like most places to eat out it was a bit too expensive for us to return. During our stay we didn't rely on the shop as it was very small, with a small selection of fruit and veg, so we did most of our shopping while out and about. However, it is good for all the basics like fresh daily bread, butter, cheese, milk, jam, cereals and the fresh strawberries were delicious.

Plater Family,

No description or picture can really do the site justice. It was so lovely, spacious and the staff and owners were very polite and nothing was too much trouble. They all worked very hard and long hours to keep the site clean and tidy and running efficiently. We will definately be returning for another visit!! The restaraunt provided lovely fresh meals cooked on site and the house wine was very nice and very reasonable too (approximately 3.50 euros for a 1 litre jug). The pizza's were also the best we'd ever tasted!! The shop on site sold fresh croissants, bread, pastries and most day to day bits and pieces. It was very reasonably priced too in comparason to the larger supermarkets. The facilities were very good and were all very well used, which made it easier for the children to make friends whilst waiting for a table tennis table to become free (for example). There were plenty of tournaments organised weekly for anyone to join in. The pools on site had something for everyone, two smaller childrens pool and a larger pool. As we went in high season the pool and sunbeds were always busy, but people seemed good enough to remove their towels if only staying for a short while to give the sunbeds to someone else. They were very clean and the stict no eating or drinking around the pool side helped with this. We were travelling with a 14 year old disabled child and were a little unsure of what the disabled facilities would be like. When we arrived the owners had put a plastic chair in the disabled shower cubicle, which we had requested when booking. The showers were cleaned thoroughly at least twice per day and the water was also warm. Very good clean facilities. (there was always toilet paper too)
