Campsite Description
Domaine d'Oléron campsite is situated in a quiet area of a bustling island, near to Saint-Georges, a picturesque town dating back to the 10th Century. The pitches tend to be medium in size and most are situated in woodland amongst shady oak trees. The site is well located for those who like to go exploring by bicycle, with good access to the many cycle routes of the island. The small on-site bar and take-away (open from mid-June) are situated in a large marquee and family discos are held here in high season. This site is the perfect choice for those who are looking for a quiet base to discover the island, the nearby Ile de Ré, and the many quaint towns dotted along the beautiful Atlantic coastline. Location: Domaine d'Oléron lies in the northern half of the island, 3km from St Pierre d'Oléron. Around & about: The 'Plaisance' beach at Boyardville is just 3km away and offers a broad sweep of golden sand from which you will see the unusual Fort Boyard. Alternatively, visit the quaint fishing town of Saumonards, with its impressive forest, just 1km from site. Why not sample some oysters whilst you are there! It's also worth heading off the beaten track to explore hidden villages with authentic fishermen's cottages complete with sunbleached shutters, and narrow streets flooded with colour from the hollyhocks that grow throughout the island - absolutely idyllic.
