Blaarmeersen is a leafy suburban campsite, which can be found on the outskirts of the historic city of Ghent, and which is part of a large recreation complex, near to the Bourgoyen Nature Reserve.

The flat and grassy pitches are individually hedged, and there are also a number of hardstanding pitches available for motorhomes. The adjacent leisure complex has a large lake for sailing, windsurfing, rowing and swimming, and other activities available include five football fields, ten tennis courts, four squash courts, a mini-golf course, athletics track and roller skating arena. There is also a good network of walking paths and cycle tracks in the area around the campsite, and it is an easy route into the heart of Ghent, with maps available from reception. Alternatively, a bus route runs every 30 minutes from outside the campsite, into the city centre, which is well worth a visit with its cobbled streets, winding canals and vibrant nightlife. Due to the excellent transport links, some noise can be heard on site from a nearby railway line and dual carriageway.
