Ardèche and Auvergne

Camping and Touring in the Ardèche and Auvergne

An elevated spot in south central France, the Ardèche and Auvergne are geographically the oldest areas in France, and are a wild scenic landscape of beautiful lakes, extinct volcanoes and towering mountains. With fast flowing rivers cutting through limestone plateaux, the dramatic result is stupendous gorges which are popular with walking, wildlife and watersports enthusiasts. Tourism has made few inroads here, and so it is perfect for a truly relaxing holiday. The prehistoric site of the Pont d'Arc, the natural wonder of the Gouffre de Padirac caves and the impressive architecture of the Millau Viaduct are must-see attractions in the region.
