Pyrénées

Camping and Touring in the Pyrénées

The Pyrénées is an impressive region with steep sided craggy snow dusted mountains, rural sleepy villages and deep river gorges, which give way to low lying marshes, ancient historic Roman cities and rugged forested hills. At every turn, it is difficult not to be impressed by the scenery in this beautiful area, and it is best enjoyed with a guided hike, ski lesson or climbing excursion. There is much to see in the way of charming hilltop villages, ancient caves and sacred pilgrimage sites, such as the town of La Romieu on the pilgrim's route to Santiago de Compostella.
